Our second day of Chicago got off to a late start and was broken up with a very needed nap thanks to a rough night. I do believe the kids were awake more than asleep, which obviously meant HG and I were awake too! But...they were troopers and walked their little legs off all over the city without any complaining. Since Chicago had a record breaking warm 72 degree March day we tried to do as much outside as we could. We visited the Millenium park where we saw this..."The Bean" Can you tell why it has that name?

Then we saw another piece of city art work -The Crown fountains. They are two towers made out of glass blocks that sit parrallel. Changing faces of different people are projected onto the towers and in the summer water squirts out of the towers right where the mouth would be.
Then we made our way to the tourist trap of Navy Pier! We decided to do the ferris wheel after we had dinner only to find to the kids great disappointment that it had closed minutes earlier.
So, we went back on the next day when the tempature was not nearly as nice. But, we still enjoyed the ride and the city view.
On day 3 we set off for the Museum of Science and Industry. Of all the Chicago museums this one looked like the most interesting for everyone in the family, plus we got in free with our local science museum membership. I did not get any pictures of the fairy castle they had on display which was impressive to all, especially Naomi! They also had a farm section where the kids learned about milking cows, soybeans, and farm equipment. Ethan loved driving the tractors.

There was a toy factory where we got to observe a real factory line make a gravitron toy for us. Ethan and Naomi recently set up a teddy bear factory in the den, so it was neat for them to see the real thing and Ethan loved the robots!
In another area of the museum the kids stood in front of this wall very still and butterflies would land on their shadow, but if they moved the butterflies flew off. It was very cool and the kids really liked it!
We got to see trains, planes, race cars, and a submarine. Here's Naomi and Ethan driving the submarine 10,000 leagues under the sea.
There was also a pinball machine that went through about a 3 minute routine that the kids were absolutely fascinated by.
There was soooo much at this museum that I haven't even talked about. It certainly did not disappoint any of us and as you can tell it wore the kids out!
