This season Ethan moved up to the U-8 league. He has always been the youngest on his team, but now it's really noticeable because this league has 6, 7, and 8 year-olds playing together. Ethan looks so little compared to most of the other kids, and the field they play on is much bigger! The first game of the season Ethan was on the bench for the first quarter and I was filled with dread as I watched how hard and long these 8 year-olds could kick compared to what we were used to. But...when the second quarter came Ethan ran his little heart out on this big field with 8 year-old kids some of whom are nearly a foot taller than him. Although he wasn't making those powerful long kicks, he put up a good fight!
In this pic Ethan was the goalie and he is doing a drop kick, which only the goalie can do. Some of the kids in this league can do drop kicks that send the ball flying to the other end of the field. Ethan just learned how to do these recently and he has been practicing and practicing! He can't quite get it flying to the other end of the field yet, but he got the kick! And I am sure that my persistent and yes, stubborn child will get it to the other end of the field at some point!
Naomi is getting better and better! She loves her team and coach, especially the the three girls she plays with. She almost always looks over at us on the sidelines after she plays and gives us a thumbs up!
Isn't this cute? They are both #6 this season!
