Vacation time

With all the craziness in our lives lately we really needed some vacation time. So HG took a week off and we went to Myrtle Beach. We had lots of fun playing together at the beach during the day. Then at night, we went to various tourist traps like the boardwalk, putt-putt, and Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede... and of course we ate a lot of good food! I was very spoiled during the week, since my husband got up each morning and cooked me an omelette (one of my favorites) and then at night he made me tropical drinks to sip on from the balcony overlooking the ocean. Yes...I married a good man!

We had lots of fun spending time together without the distractions and stress of day to day life. It was exactly what our family needed!

At the end of the week we drove to my parents house in North Carolina to spend a couple of days with them. We went fishing with my father like we always do. Ethan is the master fisherman - he caught 2 fish this visit (he NEVER seems to fail to catch something!) Naomi caught one with a bit of help from her Gee-Gee. We also went to a small town called Lewisville that put on a very impressive 4th of July fireworks show. That's where I caught this great photo before the show of the kids with their grandparents.

But, my favorite photo is this one.....

My father is laughing in the picture because Naomi has her pinky up to show us that she has him wrapped around her little pinky, which would also explain the snow cone. :)

HG loves fireworks and since the kids are older he had to get a few this year. He started them off with sparklers and as you can see from the picture below the kids weren't too sure about it at first!

But...it didn't take long before they were LOVING it and cheering in unison for their father to blow something else up! So, I'm pretty sure HG will be spending a lot more $$ on fireworks next year.
